I remember back when I was in middle school. I wasn’t the best at sports but I wasn’t the worst. I remember practicing by myself for hours trying to become the best. I would dribble on my front porch until my mom would go crazy from me bouncing the ball. I would throw the baseball against the house over and over. I was tying to become better and the only way that was going to happen was by practicing.
The Bible says: “As therefore ye received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 ASV
Walk- “walk in him.” When it talks about this, it’s talking about living for God. To walk for him means to trust him and let him lead us in every area of our lives.
Rooted- This means to go deep. When palm trees face tropical storms they are able to stand because they have deep roots. They are blown side to side but they aren’t blown down. When we face hard times, do we fall easy?
Built up- The way we get our roots deep if to build ourselves up. Just like a body builder when training for a show. He doesn’t start becoming a body builder by lifting 500 lbs, but it starts at something small. To build us up we need to start reading and praying and getting closer to God. It may start with a small prayer but the closer we get to God the more he will build us up.
Today let’s walk in him, get rooted in him, and build ourself up. Take the steps to grow more in him.
