Connected to the Vine
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me”. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing.” John 15:4,5 NKJV
As Christians we should have the desire to make an impact in our generation for the Glory of God. We aspire to grow and develop our ministry and make it successful, we want to be able to speak into people’s lives, and see God move all around us. We have a desire to do great things for God, and produce much fruit however the problem is we go about it in the wrong way. in order to produce fruit we look towards the newest trick that will attract the most people all the latest fads or the coolest thing that everybody else is doing, this may sound like a good idea, but it simply doesn’t work we can’t advance the kingdom of God the way a high school kid would advance his reputation in school. We look at all the external things, and try to decide what we can do to change them in order to become fruitful Christians If I do this… than I will produce the fruit i want… this seems like a simple cause and effect equation right? The problem with it though is that Jesus isn’t anywhere in it.
I love this scripture because Jesus compares himself to a vine and we are the branches connected to it. Jesus says a very important word in this scripture abide, He want us to abide in Him synonyms for the word abide are obey, and acknowledge. In other words Jesus is saying i want you to obey me and acknowledge me, not just with some things or sometimes but with everything and all the time. What will happen when we abide In Jesus is we will produce much fruit. We will begin to see God’s hand move all around us not because of anything that we do on our own, but because of what God does through us. It’s through obeying His Word, and listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and acknowledging and giving Him glory in everything we do that will help us to become fruitful Christians
The Time is Now for us to see the hand of God move like never before in our lives we just have to stay connected to the vine
