Prayer is a Journey

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

As Christians we know our ultimate destination is to se Jesus face to face in heaven. Everyday we set out on the journey down an unfamiliar path, although we know where we are going how to get there remains a mystery.

God is our ever-present companion—guiding and protecting, comforting and convicting us, but we are often unaware of Him… Prayer is our means of acknowledging God’s presence and seeking His help on our daily journey.

It is through prayer that we gain access to his presence, and guidance for life. God’s command to prayer id because HE know our need for Him. We need is forgiveness, provision, guidance, and peace. If we are going to be successful in our journey we need who He is.

When we pray 3 powerful things happen:

The call to prayer is not for His benefit, but rather it is to allow Him to provide us what we need. Just like the Footprints story we are not meant to make this journey alone. With prayer in our lives we will have the support of the Creator, and Provider to guide the way. Today our challenge is to use our GPS (God Positioning System) and begin our journey with prayer, because it is not a destination but a path that we all travel.
