Rise Up and Wise UP
“Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.” John 6:5-6 NKJV
When God tests us it’s not because he hates us or is trying to make us suffer. He tests us to grow us. Our lives are in God’s hands, its not about us anymore. Jesus said not my will be done but yours be done.
In chapter 6 on a John, Jesus breaks down our new life in Christ. He talks about prayer, the word, and our Church Life. Some of the people He is talking to didn’t get what Jesus was teaching and telling them.
In verse 60 some of them listening thought it was to hard. Perhaps because they wanted to do things their own way. In verse 61 Jesus challenges the disciples by saying “does this offends you?” In other words he was asking them can you handle God’s love, Can you handle God’s call, and can you handle his anointing? In verse 66 many of his disciples decide not to walk with him anymore. Not everybody is going to follow us or Jesus. In verse 67 Jesus turns to the twelve with this question. “Do you also want to go away?” But In verse 68-69 Peter rises up and wises up when he says “where should we go? You have the words of eternal life, we know and believe that you’re the Christ the son of the Living God.”
Sometimes it’s hard for us to understand what God is calling us to do. Sometimes it’s hard to walk and live for Him. But when we listen to and obey what Jesus is teaching us He will help us wise up. Today the challenge is for us to rise up and wise up. To wise up simply means to follow after Jesus. In our own we can’t do anything, but with Jesus we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. Take some time and read John chapter 6 today and really see what Jesus is speaking to us today.
